Stillwater, MN: Anthony Signorelli, an East Metro Area author, consultant, and entrepreneur, has published a new book: Call to Liberty: Bridging the Divide Between Liberals and Conservatives. Undaunted by the ambitious title, Signorelli has his work cut out for him.
“I just got fed up with people demonizing one another on one hand, and refusing to realize just what kind of political trouble America could be facing based on historical precedent. I wanted to do something about it. I am a writer, and writers write books, so that’s what I did,” said Signorelli.
Signorelli asserts that there are foundational principles on which almost all Americans agree, and that those principles can provide the common ground. According to him, principles are enduring, while values are individualized, changeable, and the basis of differences. And yet, if principles are the common ground, then we must also see clearly when those principles are being challenged.
“This is not another vacuous call to have everyone just get along,” said Signorelli. “We have real differences of opinion which need rich, robust, civil and honest debate. Our challenges are too profound to forego that conversation. But there are also viewpoints out there which require confrontation, viewpoints based on principles that are contradictory to American liberal democracy. By knowing the common principles of American democracy, we can have our differences without giving in to the forces on either side that oppose the principles of the American democratic republic.”
Signorelli has formed Call to Liberty, LLC, which includes a community-networking website at www.calltoliberty.net, a growing network of bookclubs, discussion groups, and related organizations, and an increasingly popular blog.
Signorelli starts a national book tour in January 2007, with one of the first stops at the Critical Thinking Club of Stillwater. The goal is to help heal the political culture of America. The book is published by Scarletta Press of Minneapolis, and is available in most area bookstores, including independents, Barnes & Noble, and Borders. It can also be purchased online at www.calltoliberty.net. ###

Anthony Signorelli's Call to Liberty: Bridging the Divide Between Liberals and Conservatives explains how extremists on both sides of the political divide have set up a false split in the American electorate, and charts a new path to constructive debate.
St. Paul, MN (December 1, 2006) – Anthony Signorelli is a concerned citizen. Like most of us, he's just fed up with mean-spirited, divisive party politics. He stays awake at night worrying about the future of our country, and he felt called do something about it.
After the recent election with voters demanding civility and moderation, we're seeing a rising up of citizen philosophers, calling for renewed civic participation. Tony Signorelli is doing just that, in one of the oldest and most radical forms of communication: the book.
He's spent a year researching and writing his book entitled Call to Liberty: Bridging the Divide Between Liberals and Conservatives . In it, he identifies traditional American principles we all share – individual sovereignty, private property and rule of law – as common ground for debate. He sheds light on huge trends that are undermining the economic, political and religious foundations of our society. He then goes on to propose some thought-provoking ideas to heal the body politic.
He found a publisher, Scarletta Press, and the book is being sold in stores and on Amazon. Tony is also going around making presentations to civic, church, community and educational organizations (and selling books out of the trunk of his '98 Toyota Corolla). He is sort of cross between Henry David Thoreau and Johnny Appleseed, inspiring curiosity - and a bit of dissent - and spreading seeds of political hope. With groups like Unitarian Universalists, Catholics, Critical Thinkers, Atheists and Secular Humanists, Trade Unions, students and book clubs, Tony is earnest, makes a great presentation, and gets standing ovations.
Tony is a man with a mission. He had a choice between buying a cabin in the woods and publishing this book. He fervently believes Americans want to go in a new direction, and he wants to do his part.
